I responded to those two queries with the URL for the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home's web site where, bless their hearts, they post obits online for the families and friends. Leonard-Muller Funeral home does that, too, and between the two they cover a fair area of Clayton County.
I wish that the Postville, Clermont and other funeral homes would do the same. It is a wonderful service. (And MUCH more timely than my weekly subscription to the Clayton County Register which always arrives at least one-half week too late.)
The Dubuque Telegraph Herald posts obits online, too, but they (a) now require you to establish a userid (logon) to their site -- although still free even to non-subscribers and (b) only keep the obit online for about 3-4 days. After that they charge $7.00 per copy (for a copy from their microfilm collection of the obituary as published). To be fair, the TH archives will eventually cover the period 1868-oresent... and they have a fair portion of that available now (or "soon" if you are later in the alphabet) via this site:

Their obits are freely searchable but not, apparently, freely displayable. Still, one out of two isn't too bad. It, like everything else, will be quite nice when it is done.
