North Iowa Times, September 26, 1968:
An accumulation of propane gas in the basement of the Hotel Annex Building in Marquette exploded at about 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, injuring five and killing one. The building was damaged expensively, as were cars parked on the street. The Marquette fireman and State Fire Marshall are not certain what triggered the explosion.Mr. Walter McCormick, 67, maintenance man, who lived in the building, was injured fatally in the explosion. He is survived by a stepsister, Mrs. Loretta Bulman, of Harpers Ferry, and several nieces and nephews:

We wish to thank the friends of Walter McCormick who remembered him, by attending his wake and funeral in McGregor; for the Mass cards and flowers. Also, Fr. Wm. Holtzer of Harpers Ferry; Fr. Karl Klein, McGregor; and Fr. Heineman, Monona, for their prayers and kindness to us. We also appreciated all who helped us in any way Saturday after the accident.

I don't know why the with his name in St. Patrick's cemetery, Monona, doesn't have a death date.
