The descendants of subject J. C. F. Scheffert, thought to have been born in Schwichtenburg Germany on 4 June 1825 have been searching for his birth parents. A researcher named William Schaffer has provided the information that he was actually born 4 Jan 1825 in Borrentin which is near Schwichtenburg and that his birth name was Johann Joachim August Scheffert. His father was Jochen Christian Scheffert b.11 Sep 1800 in Mesiger and his mother was Christine Hoge b. 1798. For further ancestry visit Rootsweb for "Scheffert of Demmin". Does anyone have a picture of him or can confirm that he, his wife and son John are buried in the Lutheran cemetery in Garnavillo?
