Hi Mallory,
Have you tried searching the digital archives of the Elkader library. There is a discussion of how to search it on this query board, look for the query titled "Historic Clayton County Newspapers" a couple of queries below where your query is on this board.
I looked for Lena/Helena Geno in the Elkader Register during 1920 and found:
Elkader Register, Thur., 4 Mar. 1920, in the Strawberry Point Column.
The remains of Mrs. Al Geno, formerly of this place but for the past few years of St. Olaf, were brought here Tuesday afternoon for Burial.
-----------------.
Elkader Register, Thur., 20 May 1920, under court proceedings - probate of wills.
Lena C. M. Geno, estate. Alfred J. Geno appointed executor without bond.
--------------------.
I also found two news blurbs mentioning Alfred Geno in the Arlington News, Arlington, Iowa, which had a Strawberry Point column.
Arlington News, Thur., 23 Nov. 1916.
Alfred Geno has purchased a restaurant at St. Olaf. He will move his family there soon.
-------------.
Arlington News, Thur., 4 Oct. 1917.
Mr. Alfred Geno, of St. Olaf, and son Albert were business visitors here Monday.
----------------.
You will have to play around with the search engine on the Elkader Library site, its a little tricky. The Elkader Register's circulation encompassed both Strawberry Point and St. Olaf. It was probably the counties "official" newspaper.
For an obit for Helena/Lena Geno you could try the Strawberry Point library, I think they have a genealogy section with many obits.
Good Luck !
