I recently came upon a family tree in Ancestry.com that vaguely matches a family I am searching for. I've now discovered the family residing in Read, Clayton Co, Iowa in the 1860 and 1870 census records, with parents Thomas and Margaret. Both parents were born in Ireland, as was their oldest son, Michael. This information matches the family I am searching for. The ages in the census records are also fairly close for the parents and spot on for the son Michael in the 1860 census. I find the mother (vastly underaged) in the 1880 census with the son Michael and a son Edward, again in Read. I am wondering if anyone knows ANYTHING about this family. The ones I am searching for married in Shinrone, Co. Offaly (then Kings Co), Ireland in November 1843. Their son Michael was baptized in this parish in October 1844, and at that point I lose sight of them. Margaret's maiden name was Searson. I can supply a considerable amount of history about the Searson family she came from and would be glad to share it if we do have a match. This family is not related to me, but I have done the Searson Genealogy for The Gathering Ireland 2013 and again would be willing to share any information from that if we can make a match. Margaret Searson Barrett had 2 known siblings, one who remained in Ireland (with living descendants today) and the other who travelled to New South Wales Australia (again with living descendants today). Thank you for any assistance you can supply to me!
