Hi Rachel,
There are no 'official' birth records (or birth certificates issued) in Clayton county until 1880, and even then the records have large gaps in the reporting. Unofficial records such as christenings & baptism records can sometimes be found if the church records are extant. Otherwise researchers need to rely on the occasional newspaper notices of births, family Bible entries, census records, gravestone inscriptions, draft registration records, etc. to document the birthdate of a person.
