John was supposedly born in Vermont around 1816 moved to Iowa in 1847.Married Racheal Philbrick onDec.5,1850 .John died in early 1874.they had 8 kids.all records show he died a pauper and him and 2 kids were buried on the family farm.He could't pay his taxes so the state sold it at auction.Land recorsd show he purchased 80 acres for 219 dollars June 13,1849 sold Feb.3,1855 On Oct 4 ,1875 his foreclosed land was sold to G.S. PECK and J.S.King
