Searching for any and all information re: Michael and Catharine Nicholson of Giard Township, Clayton County. I believe they immigrated from Ireland around 1850, settled briefly in New York State where daughter Mary was born, and then settled in Giard prior to 1860, along with a Thomas Nicholson,age 70, also an immigrant from Ireland. All show on the 1860 census, but only Michael, Catharine and five children in the 1880 census. Lived as farmers, and were probably Roman Catholic. Possibly related to Nicholson immigrants in Fairview Township, Allamakee County.
