I did some searching on Ancestry (the name sounded very familiar) and I found that in 1910 she was still alive and she was living in Sperry, Clayton County, Iowa.

About her spouse John:

1910 Census shows Emma as his spouse and Virgil as his child.

During the WWI Draft (1917) John was recorded as living in Woodbury County - but no information regarding any wives or children.

Also in 1930 John (47years) was recorded as living in Madison, with spouse named Meta Jensen (52years). Also living with him is child Virgil (20years) and Keith (8years). It is said his first marriage was at age 26years and Metas at 21years.

Other sources say that they were married in 1909 but I couldn't find any hard evidence suggesting that they were.

Looks like you definitely have quite an obstacle!
