Obituary Information

BARNHAM, BARNUM, BURNHAM

I am looking for obituary information on James Barnham and his wife, Ester/Essie/Essa. They lived in Farmersburg, Clayton Co. in 1860. James supposedly died in a farm accident or at least suddenly (possibly sunstroke) between 1863 and 1870 when Essie is listed as a widow on the census. Essie died between 1888 and 1895 when she no longer appears with the family on the 1895 state census. I know that vital records were not kept during that period, but due to the sudden nature of James' death, I was wondering if there might be another source of records. Also wondering which newspaper would be the most likely to have the obits for that area during that time frame. Any help would be appreciated more than you can know! This has been one of the "brick walls" in our research.
Thank you,
Teresa
