Barbara,
A small correction to your query so people unfamiliar with the county won't be mislead -- Osborne is a town in Cox Creek twp. There is no Osborne township in Clayton county. Your ancestor Thomas Osborne & wife had the town surveyed & laid out for them in 1879 according to the brief Osborne history given in Chapter XXIV of the 1882 History of Clayton co. Iowa.
