Rita,
The 1860 federal census, Clayton co. Giard twp. enumerates Henry Sr., his wife Catherine & their children: John, Fred, Martha, Elisabeth, Caroline & Henry.

The 1870 federal census, Clayton co. Giard twp. enumerates Henry Sr. (a widower) and his children: John, 20; Frederick, 18; Martha, 16; Elisabeth, 14; Caroline, 12; Henry J., 10; Catharine, 8; Godlich, 7 and Edwin (T?), 5.

There is no Henrietta listed for either census year. So if there was a daughter by that name, she likely was born and died between the 1860 & 1870 census. Without any other info. to go by, I'd venture to say the child you call H.J. was a male named Henry J. Do you have more info. about Henrietta Josephine?

Sharyl
