My great-great grandfather, John McLean, was born in Scotland around 1827. He came to America when about 23 years old. He married Alison Binne, who also was born in Scotland. They lived in Clayton Co. Iowa for sometime. They had 14 children. John joined the Iowa Infantry as a volunteer in the civil war, in 1864. Was discharged in 1865. He was in the 15th Regiment, Co. K. He marched with Sherman to the sea. I would like anyone with info, (hopefully and ancestor) to respond! They moved from Iowa, then resided in Illinois, McHenry Co. the remainder of their lives. Thanks...
