Gertrude Thiese
Funeral services were held for Gertrude L. Thiese, 82, Guttenberg, Wednesday, April 19, 2000 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Guttenberg with burial at Ceres Cemetery, Guttenberg. Rev. Gregory Eilers officiated. Honorary pallbears were Heidi Bruns, Marcia Zander, Connie Henderson, Kristine Keehner, Amy Willenborg, Lisa Nash, Amber Thiese and Angela Thiese (Submiters note: Granddaughters of the deceased). Pallbears were (Note Grandsons of the deceased)Shield Bozeman, Michael Thiese, Kevin Bruns, Mark Keehner, Mark Thiese, Steve Keehner, Scott Schlueter, Aaron Thiese, Adam Thiese, Eric Thiese and Brian Thiese. Arrangements were by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home.

She was born October 1, 1917, on the family farm near Guttenberg, Iowa, daughter of Fred and Milda (Lundt) Borcherding. She received her education locally, farmed with her family and was a homemaker for many years. She was united in marriage with Ferdinand "Ferdy" Thiese at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. She was a member of the Trinity Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, birds, family photos and pencil drawings. She died Sunday, April 16, 2000 at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Surviors include three daughters, Thelma (Larry) Keehner, Luana, Vivian (Brent) Bruns, Monona, and Angela (Ronnie) Schlueter, Wauzeka, Wis.; three sons, Alan (Janice) Thiese, Macon, Georgia, David (Norma) Thiese and John Thiese, both of Guttenberg; 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one brother Harold Borcherding and one sister-in-law Viola Borcherding.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson Matthes, one son-in-law Larry Keehner; two brothers, Herbert and Delbert, and one sister-in-law Lillian.
