November 4th occurred the death of Wm. Kellogg, Sr., at his home in this vicinity, at the age of 83 years.
Mr. Kellogg was one of the early settlers, having lived here since the early days of this part of the country.
He was married to Mary J. Hines more than fifty years ago. To them were born four children, Albert, William, Alfred and Mrs. Belle Scott. The first three are living but Mrs. Scott died about 17 years ago.
Mr. Kellogg was a kindly old gentleman, well liked and respected by all who knew him. He was a veteran of the Civil war, and it brings to us the thought that the time isn't far distant when all the old soldiers will have answered the final roll call.
His funeral was held at Pleasant Grove church, Nov. 6th, a minister from Edgewood, officiating. His grandsons, Ernie, Ralph, Milton and Francis Kellogg and Miles and Elmer Scott, were his pall bearers. He was buried in the Noble cemetery, near Edgewood.
