Stanley LeRoy “Whitey” Bolsinger, age 86 and longtime Clayton County resident passed away peacefully in his home on April 25, 2017, surrounded by family and Sparky, his faithful companion.
Whitey was born on July 20, 1930, the son of Laura Bolsinger Buchheim in Graham, Iowa. Whitey spent his childhood between Graham and Clayton Center. He spent many happy hours with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He attended and graduated from the Elkader High School.
In 1951, Whitey married Bonnie Turner, they were later divorced. They had 5 daughters, Laura (Lori Bena) Jordan, Lynda (James) Akers, Lorna (Lynn) Moser, Lana (Rev.Charles) Underwood & Lisa Bolsinger. They also had a son Richard who died in infancy.
Whitey joined the Marines and proudly served overseas during the Korean War.
After the war, he worked in cement and construction and later as a long haul semi driver.Whitey married Ruth Boge in 1973 and three more girls joined the family, Tina (Heath) Stuckey, Loretta Cook and Lona (Rick) LeGrand.
He had his own cement block and construction business with his truck reading “Whiteys Angels.” Whitey has 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
His pastimes included playing cards and shooting pool, country music and dancing. He was also a master storyteller. He could fix anything with duct tape, super glue, bailing twine or a hammer.
He was preceded in death by his mother Laura Buchheim.
