Scherf, Robert C. 1891 - 1904

Elkader Register, Thur., 25 Feb. 1904.

Robert Scharf arrived home from Glenwood, Ia., Saturday with the body of his son, who died at that place Wednesday, Feb. 17th, aged 12 years, 5 months and 22 days. He had been an inmate of the home for feeble minded children of that place for about four years. The funeral was held at the church here Sunday afternoon at half past two, conducted by Rev. Braun, burial in Farmersburg cemetery. The family have the sympathy of the community in this sad affliction.

The 1900 Fed. Census of Mills County, Glenwood Twp., Glenwood City, Iowa Institute for Feeble Minded Children shows:

Robert C. Scherf, born Aug. 1891 in Iowa, both parents born Germany, Inmate.

The 1900 Fed. Census of Clayton Co., St. Olaf town shows:

Robert & Clara Scherf, with children, Adela, Emil, Theresa, Edward and Elizabeth.

The IGPP shows the gravestone photo for Robert Scherf, son of R & C. Scherf, in Farmersburg cemetery.

The newspaper, or it's correspondent, apparently erred in the spelling of the surname Scherf.
