Added by S. Ferrall 4/5/2019:

At her home in Elkader, Saturday afternoon, July 25th, about 3:30 o'clock, Mrs. Christina Cassutt passed away after a lingering illness of many years.

She was born on March 11th, 1817, in Graupin, Switzerland. She was married to Louis Cassutt in 1848, and they, with their family, came to America in 1860, coming direct to Guttenberg.

They resided about five years on a farm in Jefferson township and then came to Boardman township, where they located on a farm. About 25 years ago they came to Elkader, where some twenty years ago Mr. Cassutt died.

Four children were born to them of whom three survive, Casper, in Lake county, S.D.; Thomas, at Guttenberg; and Anton at home. Twenty-two grand-children and four great-grand-children mourn her demise.

For the past ten years Mrs. Cassutt has been an invalid and for over twenty months has been confined to her bed patiently waiting to be called from her suffering. During this time her son Anton has tenderly cared for her and now sincerely mourns her departure.

The funeral was held on Monday last at St. Joseph's church, Rev. Father Reilly officiating.

Card of Thanks
We sincerely tender our heartfelt thanks to our friends and neighbors who have been so kind during the long illness of our mother, the late Christina Cassutt.

~Register & Argus, Thursday, July 30, 1908

Note: Burial is in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery, Elkader
