SELMER LOUIE ERICKSON

Selmer Louie Erickson, son of Samuel Gilbert and Caroline Hegna Erickson, was born April 19, 1904, in Marion township, Clayton county, Iowa. He passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, February 20, 1965, at the age of 60 years, 10 months and one day.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Marion Lutheran Church by Rev. N. Arveson. His membership was later transferred to the East Clermont Lutheran church.

On April 9, 1964 he was married to Esther Krueger Oelbert.

At the age of two, he moved with his parents to the present farm in Grand Meadow township. Here he resided and was engaged in farming until the time of his death.

He attended the rural school and then graduated from the Cedar Rapids Business college.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one infant brother, Peter Selmer, and one sister, Clara (Mrs. Lloyd Aanes).

Survivors include his wife, Esther; two step-daughters, Beverly (Mrs. Gary Gilson) of Oelwein, and Alyce of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren; two brothers, Albert of Erskine, Minnesota and Elmer of McIntosh, Minnesota; five sisters, Bertina Buraas and Myrtle Andrew of Cedar Rapids, Stella (Mrs. Meillen Loftsgard) of Elgin, Gladys Smith of Ames and Florence (Mrs. Millard Rear) of Clermont; many nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held February 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the East Clermont Lutheran Church with burial in the Marion Cemetery at Gunder. Rev. Roger Peterson officiated at the service assisted by Rev. George Breitkreuz.
