Services for Steven DeSotel were held Monday, November 29, 1982 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Reverend Julius L. Peterson and the Reverend David R. Nelson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Luana Cemetery. Casket bearers were Donn Hanson, Joe Erb, Steve Matt, Steven Taylor, Todd Kuhse, and Jerry Bacon.
Steven Lee DeSotel, son of Wayne Lee and Sharon Lee (Wendel) DeSotel, was born March 21, 1961 at McGregor, Iowa. He passed away November 26, 1982 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 21 years, 8 months and 5 days.
He was baptized on April 30, 1961 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. On May 8, 1977 he was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He graduated from the Postville Community Schools in 1980 and attended the University of Wisconsin at Platteville for one year. He had been employed at the Monona Wire Factory.
Steven was very interested in Warbird and home-built aircraft. He enjoyed the Experimental Aircraft Association flying convention which he attended each year with his family. Some of his other interest were camping, music, basketball games, track meets, and working with wood.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Emil and Irene DeSotel and his maternal grandfather, Curtis Wendel.
