Services Held for Irene DeSotel

Funeral services for Irene DeSotel were held Wednesday, January 23, 1980, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with Pastor R. D. Ehlers officiating. Pallbearers were Verdon Swenson, Marlin Swenson, Lane Alan Swenson, Raymond DeSotel, Kenneth Lindroth, Les Livingood, Gordon Kaeser, Jr., and Roy Engelhardt. Burial was in the Luana City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral home was in charge of services.

Irene Louise DeSotel, daughter of Frank and Lucy (Palas) Lindroth, was born April 30, 1904. She attended school in the area and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On February 21, 1925, she was united in marriage with Emil DeSotel in Luana. To this union five children were born: Darlene, Shirley Jean, Gordon, Nyla, and Wayne.

She died Sunday, January 20, 1980, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, having reached the age of 75 years, 8 months, 20 days. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Emil, who died in 1964; daughter Shirley Jean; and a brother, Effered Lindroth.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Merle (Darlene) Funk of Ten Sleep, Wyoming, and Mrs. Ronald (Nyla) Erb of Waukon; two sons, Gordon of Dallas City, Illinois, and Wayne of Postville; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Myron Lindroth of St. Olaf; a sister, Mrs. Hall (Florence) Swenson, Sr. of Postville, and other relatives. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
