Elkader - Mrs. Annetta Dennis died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Mike Leonard, near Elkader, early Sunday morning. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist church in Edgewood. Burial will be at the Mount Harmony cemetery, Elkport. The body will lie in state at the Rhines funeral home in Edgewood.
A pioneer resident of Clayton county, she was born and raised near Elkport, the daughter of the late Elias Hall, who is prominent in Clayton county history as one of the first settlers in Elk township.
Frank Dennis, her husband, died in 1935. The couple farmed near Elkport on the elias Hall farm until 1930, when they retired and went to Edgewood.
Mrs. Dennis has made her home with the niece, Mrs. Leonard, since 1943. She has no children but is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Mike Leonard, Elkader; Mrs. Vern Dalen, Strawberry Point; Clarence Hall, Spirit Lake; Mrs. Ruth Mills, Winnepeg, Canada, and Emmet Miller, Wisconsin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Annette Dennis, 88, were held from the Ryan funeral home, Edgewood, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and the Methodist church at 2 o'clock. Burial was in Mt. Harmony cemetery near Elkport.
Mrs. Dennis died Saturday, March 19, at the home of her niece, Mrs. Mike Leonard, near Elkader.
Annette Hall was born May 5, 1861, on a farm near Elkport, the second daughter of Roxanna and Thayer Hall. She received her education in the rural school near her home. After her marriage to Frank Dennis they lived on the home farm until March 1, 1924, when they moved to Edgewood where Mr. Dennis died Feb. 13, 1935. She continued to live in her home in Edgewood until January, 1946. Since August, 1947, she has been cared for at the home of her niece, Mrs. Mike Leonard.
She is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Mike Leonard, Elkader, Mrs. Vern Dalen, Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Ruth Mills, Winnipeg, Canada; five nephews, Clarence Hall, Spirit Lake, Iowa, Earl Miller, Woodward, Iowa, Clyde and Emmett Miller, Winnipeg, Canada; several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dyer Hall, Correctionville, Iowa, a niece, Maggie Miller, and a nephew, Alfred Hall
Pallbearers were: James Leonard, Robert Dalen, Elias Hall, Joe Collins, Walter Szemkus and Virgil Uriell.
