Rudolph Schroeder was born at Cincinnati in 1852 and died at his residence in Garnavillo, Dec. 10, 1905. His father, Rudolph, moved to Jefferson township in Clayton County in 1857 and died in March, 1901, leaving a widow, Rudolph's mother, still living in Guttenberg, over 80 years of age. Mr. Schroeder in 1877 married Katherine Kahn and the next year settled in Garnavillo, where they have since resided and to whom were born six children, viz: Rudolph, Jr., and Arthur of Dubuque; Alma, died in infancy; Verni, residing at Lincoln, Neb.; and LeRoy and Ernie, living with their mother at their pleasant homestead adjoining Garnavillo on the south. In addition to cultivating his small farm, he has for twenty-six years gathered cream for the creamery. He was a man thoroughly honest and reliable and enjoyed the confidence of his large circle of acquaintances. Of a cheerful temperament he was always ready and willing to do kindly deeds for all who asked his assistance. The entire community extends a hearty sympathy to the family who mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at St. Paul's church, Rev. W.K.
