Jeanne Abernethy
Jeanne M. Abernethy, age 73, of St. Charles, Illinois, died Tuesday, May 13, 1997 at the Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. A memorial mass of resurrection was held Saturday, May 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McGregor, IA, with Rev. Robert Levenhagen officiating. Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Burial was held in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor, IA.
She was born April 23, 1924 in Waukon, IA, to William and Alma (Garrow) Fitzgerald. She attended St. Patricks High School in Waukon and later graduated from Clark College in Dubuque, IA. She married Curtis Abernethy on May 4, 1946 in Waukon, IA.
She taught Elementary School in Elgin, IL., for 24 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, who died October 10, 1993.
She is survived by one son, Michael Abernethy, of St. Charles, IL.
