Mrs. Cora Morch Funeral Rites Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Elizabeth Morch, 71, were held Friday afternoon, July 3, at 2 o'clock at Norway Lutheran church near St. Olaf with Rev. Landis Gross officiating.
Burial was in the Gooding Cemetery in Wagner township.
Mrs. Morch died in the Prairie du Chien General hospital, Tuesday morning, June 30. She had been ill for 12 weeks preceding her death, having had a heart ailment for three years.
She was born April 4, 1893, the daughter of William and Tillie, nee Mafilius, Sheppard of Wagner township. She was the oldest daughter of a family of nine children, four girls and five boys. She was baptized April 22, 1894, by Rev. Hoffman of the Evangelical United Brethren church in Monona.
She was married to Oscar Morch, Oct. 27, 1913, in Monona by Rev. Glasier. The couple began married life on a farm near Hamilton, N. D., where they lived for four years and then moved to a farm near Cresco, where they lived for 24 years before moving to a farm south of Luana. Mrs. Morch lived on this farm for 23 years. It was also her childhood home.
She was confirmed by Rev. Norman of the First Lutheran church at Cresco, and was a member of the Norway Lutheran church of St. Olaf.
Preceding her in death were her husband, who died March 27, 1956, her parents, one sister, one brother, and one grandchild.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Clara) White of Luana; a son Delmar of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Esther) Burr of Ridgeway and Clara Olson of San Diego, Calif.; four brothers, Benjamin Sheppard of Lisbon, N. D., Alva Sheppard of Kalispell, Mont., Elmer Sheppard of Coal Valley, Illinois, and Myron Sheppard of Fayette; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Music at the services was provided by Don Wold, soloist, Mrs. Walter Rugland was the organist.
Pallbearers were Perry Benson, Henry Mueller, Vernis Henkes, Glen Kurth, Donald Henning and Donald Sass.
