Final Tribute to WM Kregel Here Monday

Aged citizen had been a resident of this community three quarters of century

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home and from Trinity Lutheran Church for Wm. Kregel resident of the Guttenberg community for nearly three quarters of a century. Mr. Kregel died last Saturday at the age of 89 years. The services were in charge of Rev. Martin Peters, pastor of Trinity church and burial was in the city cemetery. Pallbearers were William Borcherding, A.H. Borcherding, Fred Borcherding, Ferdinand Thiese, Fred Kregel, and August Walke.

Mr. Kregel the son of William and Sophie Kregel was born September 27, 1850, at Gross Varlingen in Hannover Germany. He came to this country with his parents at the age of 15 years and settled on a farm.

Wed in 1881

On February 11, 1881 he was married to Christine Nuehring and to this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Thiese. Mr. Kregel is survived by Mrs. Kregel, his daughter Mrs. Minnie Thiese, Ruben Thiese, Mrs. Orville Tuecke, and Mrs. Valmah Siebrecht, five great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Caroling Borcherding. A brother and three sisters preceded him in death.

Note: Gross Varlingen was misspelled in the paper. Gross Farlingen was the spelling the paper used.
