Clayton County Register, 12 Dec. 1957.

Eva Gertrude Prouty, daughter of Daniel E. and Mary Gleason, was born Nov. 25, 1887, at Elkader, and died Dec. 07, 1957, at the McGregor Community hospital, after an extended illness.

She was married to Dean M. Prouty in April, 1911, at Elkader.

Mrs. Prouty was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic church, and received her education from the St. Joseph's school and spent her entire life in Elkader.

She is survived by her husband and four children, Milton Prouty, Savannah, Ga.; Evadean Voegtli, Tujunga, Calif.; Robert Prouty, Washington, D.C.; and Daniel Prouty, Marion, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; three brothers, Virgil Gleason, Minneapolis, Minn.; Clement and Wm. J. Gleason, New Hampton; three sisters, Mary G. Brown, Sunland, Calif.; Veronica Opperman, Maquoketa, and Francis Berns, Strawberry Point.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 09, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Daniel A. Gorman officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph's cemetery.

Howard Berns, Don Wolf, Don Welch, Ed Burlingame Sr., Harold Jewell and Irving Tucker were pallbearers for Mrs. Eva Prouty, whose funeral was held Dec. 09, at St. Joseph's Catholic church.

Mrs. Prouty was born Nov. 25, 1888, and died
Dec. 07, 1957. She was married to Dean M. Prouty in August of 1911. She spent her entire life in Elkader.
