Mrs. Betsy Christianson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter K. Peterson, on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 3 a.m. at the age of 84 years, eight months, and 23 days.
Betsy Halstenson, daughter of Torkel and Anna Halstenson, was born in Marion township March 01, 1864. She was baptized and confirmed in the Marion Lutheran church.
On March 07, 1889, was married to Karl Christianson. They resided for one year in Chicago but returned to a farm in Clayton county in 1891 and lived there until 1923. In 1924 they moved to a farm near Wauzeka, Wis.
Since her husband's death in 1927 she made her home with her children until the last several years when she was cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Peter K. Peterson.
Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Christianson, two of whom died in infancy and one at the age of six. Surviving are her children, Thomas of Des Moines, Mrs. P. K. (Julia) Peterson and Mrs. Ralph (Alma) Gunderson of Postville, Knute of St. Olaf, Mrs. Arthur (Nellie) Landsgard of Elgin, Henry and Mrs. Will (Gunda) Seely of Wauzeka , Wis. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Christ Halverson of Lake Mills, Iowa, 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her parents, one sister, and four brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. S. J. Strandjord, were held at the Peterson home at 1:30 and at the Norway Lutheran church at 2 o'clock.
Ruth Seely and Bernita Landsgard were flower girls. Pallbearers were four grandsons, William Christianson, Emery Landsgard, Arnold and Dean Gunderson, Harold Anderson and Harold Halverson.
Relatives attending from a distance were: Thomas Christianson of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Christianson and William, Mr. and Mrs. Will Seely and family of Wauzeka, Wis., Mrs. Christ Halverson and Inghart, Mrs. Ruth Boutelle of Lake Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Rhinehart of Spring Valley, Minn.
