Funeral services for Richard Barske were held from the Oelke funeral home Sunday afternoon, Jan. 18. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Richard Barske was born at Settin Province Pommenn, Germany, July 26, 1859, the son of Ernest and Charlotte Barske, and died at Elkader, Jan. 16, 1948, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 20 days.

He was baptized, confirmed and educated in Germany.

In the year 1875 he came with his parents to America and spent the remainder of his life in Boardman township. During his early manhood he worked on a farm.

He is survived by three nieces and two nephews, Wm. Barske of Merrill, Wis., Richard Boettcher, Autigo, Wis., Mrs. Paul Schneider, St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Anna Glesne, Elkader, and Mrs. Minnie Pratt, Minneapolis, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Wilhelm, Fred, Reinhardt and Ferdinand, and one sister, Mrs. Wilhelmina Boettcher.

Pallbearers were: Geo. Ehrhardt, John Downie, L. J. Stallbaum and Fred Wistrick.
