Andrew Trygg, 79, one of the early residents of Clayton county, died Monday, March 25, after a several months illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Lutheran church on Swede Ridge with the Rev. O. R. Haugstul, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Swede Ridge cemetery.

Andrew A. Trygg was born June 28, 1866, at Dalarna, Sweden. At the age of 18 he came to the United States with his parents and they settled in Clayton county near the town of Clayton. He was the last survivor of a family of four children of Andrew Hanson Trygg.

He married Ateina Leibrand on August 27, 1896, and they moved on a farm on Swede Ridge. After the death of Mrs. Trygg in 1935 he came to McGregor and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Theodore Becker. For the past few years he has been in Cedar Rapids, where Mr. and Mrs. Becker are now living.

He was an active member of the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran church, and was one of the early members of this church. He was also an active community citizen serving as school director, creamery director, and as member of the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by seven children. They are: Mrs. Carl Erbe, Cedar Falls; Elmer Trygg and Mrs. Theodore Becker, Cedar Rapids; Oliver Trygg, Ames; Clifford Trygg, Portland, Ore.; Raymond Trygg, McGregor; and Mrs. Rufus Epley, Waverly. Seven grandchildren also survive.

Among those from away who were here to attend the funeral were: Dr. and Mrs. Carl Erbe and Lois Ann, Cedar Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Trygg and LaVon and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Becker, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Epley and children, Waverly; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Trygg, Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hockett, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Leonard, all of Garnavillo; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hallberg, Guttenberg; and Ed. Hultgren of Evanston.
