Note: Krepelin, Kreplin, are German spellings of her maiden name
Wilhelmina Friderika, (Kreblen) Gottschalk passed away at her home on the east side Friday, March 19, 1920 at the age of seventy-four years, six months, and five days after an illness of about one weeks duration caused by pleurisy.
Deceased was born in Krien, Germany Sept. 14, 1845, and there she spent her childhood and school days.
In 1868 she was married to Wilhelm Gottschalk and to this union eight children were born, namely, William in Boardman; Mrs. Fred Seeland; John of Littleport; Mrs. Albert Lenth of Farmersburg; Mrs. Herman Lenth of Farmersburg; Mrs. William Seeland of Wagner; Charles of Boardman, and Herman of Mason City. Of these children Mrs. Fred Seeland preceded her mother in death in 1901.
In the same year as their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Gottschalk came to this county and for a time resided in Clayton Center, later moving to Boardman township where they lived continuously until three weeks ago when they moved to Elkader, to enjoy a quite life.
Mrs. Gottschalk was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor and her death will be mourned not only by her immediate relatives but by all that knew her. Deceased was also a member of the Frauen Verein, where she will be missed.
Funeral services were held Monday at the church in Clayton Center, with Rev. Athenstadt officiating.
