Funeral services for Mrs. Erick G. Halverson, 85, were held from the Witt funeral chapel at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 05, and at the Marion Lutheran church in Gunder at 2 o'clock. Dr. S. J. Strandjord officiating. Burial was in the Marion cemetery in Gunder.

Mrs. Halverson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Selma Sonstegard Friday, March 01, 1946, following a nine day illness.

Mary Knutson was born in Marion township, Clayton county on Sept. 21, 1860, the daughter of Torkel and Randi Olson Knutson. She received her education in the rural schools.

On Nov. 09, 1882 she was married to Harvey Wilson. The ceremony took place in the Marion Lutheran church. The Rev. O. Waldeland officiated. Mr. Wilson died in 1890.

On Jan. 16, 1893 she was married to Erick J. Halverson. The ceremony took place in Marion township. The Rev. G. Gjerstad officiated. Mr. Halverson preceded his wife in death on July 20, 1945.

Mrs. Halverson was a member of the Marion Lutheran church.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Selma Sonstigard, Mrs. Mathilda Christianson, both of Elkader; Mrs. Gilbert Nelson, Osage; five sons: Charles Wilson, Edwin Halverson, Melvin Halverson all of Elkader Henry Wilson, Rushford, Minn., and Roy Halverson, Elgin. Three sons preceded her in death: Torkel Wilson, who died in infancy, Carl Wilson, in 1886 and Elmer Selmer Halverson in 1905. Also one sister and one brother: Mrs. Halvor Louftsgard, Decorah; and O. T. Knutson, Guttenberg survive. One sister and four brothers preceded her in death: Mrs. Krestie Erickson, Ole Torkelson, Knut Knutson, Thos. Knutson, Halvor Knutson. There are thirty-two grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were: Clarence Torkelson, Carl Torkelson, Thomas Lofstuen, John Erickson, Elmer Christianson and Louis Kjosa.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Gilbert Nelson, Osage; Henry Wilson, Rushford, Minn.; Roy Halverson, Elgin; Mrs. Halvor Louftsgard, Decorah; O. T. Knutson, Guttenberg.
