Mrs. George Freeman, 92, widow of the late Capt. George Freeman, who for nearly 40 years operated the Mississippi river ferry line between McGregor and Prairie du Chien, Wis., died Thursday at the McGregor hospital after an illness of several months. As Miss Kate Allen of North McGregor she was married August 02, 1875, to Georgee B. Freeman at Decorah, Iowa. She and Mr. Freeman were married 65 years at the time of his death March 29, 1940. She is survived by one son, Rob Roy Freeman, Maquoketa; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Congregational church, and burial took place in the Pleasant Grove cemetery.
