Knute Stearns was born on. 07, 1869 of Knute and Martha Stearns. He was baptized and confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church and received his education in the St. Olaf public school.

After a number of ventures in business and somewhat extensive travel he founded the St. Olaf Commission Company and was identified with its interest for nearly 50 years.

In 1906 he was united in marriage with Jorgina Gulsvig.

Mr. Stearns has been prominent in the civic, religious and business affairs of the community for many years and has often served in an official capacity.

At the time of his death he was president and director of the Farmers' State Bank of St. Olaf.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Mrs. Stearns, his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Christoferson of Minneapolis, one sister, Mrs. Gunhild Sorum of Grand Meadow, Minn., a number of relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Norway church with the Rev. Strandjord officiating. Burial was in the Norway cemetery.
