Charles Kellogg, 68, of Strawberry Point, was killed instantly Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock in an accident in the sandpit on the George Bente farm near Elkader. Mr. Kellogg was assisting R. J. Kamoss of Strawberry Point in hauling sand. He was standing beside the truck when the shovel which was used for putting the sand on the loading platform slid off and crushed him.
Coroner D. E. Lowe was called and he pronounced the death accidental. The body was taken to the Gill funeral home at Strawberry Point and the funeral was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Anderson officiated.
Mr. Kellogg was not married. He was a retired farmer and made his home with James Adams on a farm near Strawberry Point. His only survivors are two great-nieces and a nephew.
