Clayton County Register, 02 Sept. 1943.

Mrs. Sylvester Hines, 70, died at St. Lukes hospital, Cedar Rapids, Thursday.

As Minnie Stone, she was born near Elkport, Aug. 22, 1873.

In 1896 she was married to Sylvester Hines, who survives, together with the following children: Mrs. Robert Robbins, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Will Carnicle, Edgewood; Mrs. Howard Bacon, Cedar Rapids; Delbert Hines, Arlington; Mrs. Everett Bacon, Cedar Rapids; Roberto Hines, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Edward Harms, Winthrop; Mrs. Robert Nelson, Edgewood; Mrs. Charles McMonigal, Strawberry Point; and Willis Hines, Cedar Rapids. Two children preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Gill funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. R. Park Anderson of the Methodist church. Music was furnished by Mrs. B. W. Talcott and Dr. R. W. Dutton accompanied by Mrs. Lloyd Kramer. Burial was at Cox Creek cemetery.
