Jasper Nading, 72, of Cox Creek township died at his home in Mederville, Thursday, March 25, following a long illness.
Mr. Nading was born June 04, 1870, near Littleport, and spent most of his life in that vicinity. For the past 16 years he has lived in Mederville. He was married to Emeline Galer, who died Aug. 11, 1930. A son, Leonard, also preceded him in death several years ago.
The following children survive: William of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Lucy Nightengale of Littleport, Virgil of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Alice Hubbard, Clarence, Carl, Charles and George of Mederville, Mrs. Alma Evert of Dundee, Mrs. Ivanelle Hines, and Donald of the U.S. army in Clovis, New Mexico. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Forest, Harrison, James, Flouris and Merritt, and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Bushaw of Edgewood and Mrs. Ruby Stone of Cedar Rapids. Four brothers preceded him in death.
Two of Mr. Nading's sons, William and Clarence, served in World War I, and five grandsons are also serving in the present war. They are Harry Evert, Jr., Richard Nightengale, Clarence, Jr. and Calvine Nading, all overseas, and Martin Hubbard in the Air Corps in Florida.
Funeral services were held at the Hines residence in Mederville Monday afternoon with the Rev. George Richter in charge. Burial was made in Union cemetery at Littleport.
