Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Smith, aged 65, were held Saturday afternoon from the Lloyd C. Ferguson home to the Methodist church at two o'clock with the Rev. Harley W. Farnham officiating, and burial was made in the Smithfield cemetery beside her husband.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Moyer and was born May 27, 1878 at Darlington, Wis. August 02, 1896, she was married to Norman Smith and they farmed north of Monona where Mr. Smith died Feb. 1_, 1927. Three years later she moved to Monona.
Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd C. Ferguson and Mrs. Lester Kaeser of Monona and Carolyn of Seattle, Wash., and five sons, Loren Smith of Decorah, Elmer Smith of Elkader, and William, Carl and Melvin Smith, all of Monona; three sisters Mrs. Gus Colby of Monona, Mrs. Sidney Bowen of Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., and Mrs. Earl DeGraw of Cushing, Okla., three brothers, Elsa Moyer of DeKalb, Ill., and William and Homer Moyer of Dubuque.
