Clayton County Register, 21 Feb. 1940.
GUTTENBERG: Mrs. August Garkow died at their home in this city Thursday night. She had been ill for several months.
Mr. Garkow, one son Eddie and six daughters, Florence of Waterloo, Gladys of Washington, Edith and Ruth of Millville, Lois and Ester of Guttenberg and two grandchildren, Judith and Beverly Kulper, mourn her death.
The funeral services were held at the home in Guttenberg and at the Methodist church in Colesburg. The Rev. Floyd Mayward officiated and the interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery at Colesburg.
