Herbran W. Thompson, prominent Farmersburg banker, died on November 01 at his home in that town at the age 75 years, seven months and 17 days. His death came unexpectedly after a heart attack.

The deceased was born March 14, 1864, in Wagner township, the son of William and Barbara (Lunda) Thompson, both natives of Opdahl, Nummedal, Norway. He was one of a family of eight children. Five brothers and one sister have preceded him in death.

Mr. Thompson was a life-long member of the Norway Lutheran church.

He was active in various business enterprises during his lifetime. For many years he was engaged in the livestock business in St. Olaf and Farmersburg and then in the real estate and livestock business in North Dakota. Later he operated an elevator and feed store in Farmersburg.

In 1903 he helped organize the Farmersburg Savings bank and was an active director in that bank from 1903 until the time of his death. He held the office of president from 1921 until 1938 when he gave up the position, remaining in the capacity of director.

Mr. Thompson will be remembered by his many friends for his kindness and his willingness to assist others. He was also actively interested in anything for the welfare and the progress of the town and community.

He is survived by one sister, Rachel of Farmersburg and four nieces.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Norway Luth. church, the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating. Burial was made in the Norway cemetery.

Active and honorary pallbearers were: Otto Fuelling, Carroll Oelke, J. H. Buckman, Gottlieb Zurcher, Grover Miller, Fred Miller, Ed. Johnson, Otto Kjosa, James Mathews, George Glawe, F. A. Orvis and K. K. Stearns.
