EDGEWOOD: Mrs. George Pilgrim, nee Mary B. Kramer, was born April 13, 1872, the daughter of John Kramer and his wife Barbara Wise Kramer, north of Strawberry Point. In her early youth she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Lutheran church at St. Sebald, near Strawberry Point.
On November 24, 1892, she was united in marriage with George G. Pilgrim, and their first home was on the Gager farm, where they lived until 1901, when they moved to the Minkler farm, one and one-half miles northwest of Edgewood, which is still in the family. In 1924, they retired from active farming, purchased their home in town and have since resided here.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Pilgrim, five of whom survive. In 1933 the daughter, Mrs. Alda Thomas, was called to the Great Beyond, and he infant daughter, Mary Jane Thomas, was taken into the home of her grandparents and there has received care for the past six years.
Remaining to mourn her passing besides the husband, are three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Gertrude Fenchel and Mrs. Emma Gibbs of Strawberry Point, Mrs. O. M. Behrens of Edgewood, LeRoy Pilgrim of Oneida, and Ralph Pilgrim of Edgewood. There were also 17 grandchildren; four brothers, John Kramer, Fred Kramer and George Kramer of Strawberry Point, and William Kramer of Edgewood; and three sisters, Mrs. John Cherry of Waterloo, Mrs. Lena Denner of Dubuque, and Mrs. George Tucker of Strawberry Point. Scores of friends are deeply saddened by her loss.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist church here, with Rev. Warren Feller officiating. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
