Clayton County Register, 26 July 1939.

GUTTENBERG: George Herman*, Sr., died at his home, Thursday noon, after a lingering illness. His widow and several daughters and sons mourn his loss.

Mr. Herman had been a resident of Guttenberg all his life. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's church.

The funeral was held at the St. Mary's church Monday at 9 a.m. The Rev. Joseph Dupont officiated and burial was made in Mt. Olivet* cemetery.

*Note: Surname on gravestone in St. Mary's cemetery is spelled HERMANN (1838-1939)
