Funeral services for Ella Henrietta Anna Koopmann Kurth, 81, were held Wednesday May 8, 1991, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Pastor Ben Davis officiated with burial in Monona City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Allen Peterson, Terry Looby, Marty Bissell, Loren Ruhser, Jeff Germann, and Larry Doerring.
Ella Henrietta Anna Koopmann Kurth was born August 2, 1909, in Clayton County, Iowa the daughter of John Henry and Johanna Elisa (Deters) Koopmann. She was baptized November 14, 1909, and confirmed August 23, 1925, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville. She received her education in country schools in Clayton and Fayette counties. She was united in marriage February 11, 1931, to Eldon Freddie Kurth in Elkader. To this union eight children were born. The couple farmed in Clayton County area for many years. She moved to Monona following the death of her husband. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the W.E.L.C.A. Ella Kurth died Sunday, May 5, 1991, at the Prairie Health Care Center in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
Survivors include seven daughters, Dorothy Peterson and ElDonna Looby of Farmersburg, Gale Bissell of Monona, Marlene Doerring of Garnavillo, LaVon Germann of Postville, Elaine Doerring of McGregor and Marilyn Hackett of Postville, one son Eldon of Monona, 30 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Frieda Henkes of Seneca, Wisconsin, and Irma Hess of Brookfield, Wisconsin, three brothers Harold Koopmann of Cedar Rapids, and Adolph Koopmann of Lakeland, Florida.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Eldon, who died August 22, 1967, three brothers, three grandsons, and one great-grandchild.I am not related and no other information.
