Frank H. Schoulte was born June 13, 1880, on the home farm near National, the son of S. H. Schoulte and Anna Mary Kann. He died June 24, 1938, at St. Joseph's hospital, Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of 58 years, 11 days.
He grew up on the home farm, where he was instructed in and was always faithful to, the Catholic church. He is survived by his wife and daughter, five sisters, Catherine and Mrs. Hilda Egleseder, of Garnavillo; Mrs. Lucy Ambur of White River, S.D., Mrs. Apolonia Regennitter of Vivian, S.D., Mrs. Grace McLaughlin of East St. Louis, Ill.; four brothers, Henry of Garnavillo, William of Presho, S.D., Oliver and Caspar of McGregor. Those preceding him in death were his father, mother, three sisters, Philomena, Mary and Antonette, and one infant brother, John.
In the fall of 1907, he was married to Mattie Faber of St. Olaf. They settled on a homestead near Canistota, S.D. One child, a girl, came to bless their home for a short time, passing away at the age of six weeks. In 1923, a baby girl, Veryl, was adopted into their home.
In March, 1911, he moved to Canistota, S.D., where he has lived ever since, the last few months his health has been failing.
Funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Marion Junction, S.D., on Monday, June 27. The remains were brought to Monona, accompanied by his wife, daughter and sister Catherine. Interment was made at St. Joseph's cemetery at Garnavillo, Rev. H. Scharphoff officiating.
