Claton County Register, 04 Nov. 1936.
MONONA: Mrs. Elizabeth Wiethorn died at her home here Sunday morning, after an illness of several months' duration. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:45 from the home and at 2:00 from the First Methodist church, the Rev. George W. Turner officiating, and burial was made in the Council Hill cemetery beside her husband.
Surviving Mrs. Wiethorn are her six sons, William B. Wiethorn, George H. Wiethorn, Elmer Wiethorn, Gilbert Wiethorn and Harry J. Wiethorn, all of Monona and Ben Wiethorn of Des Moines. Two sisters, Mrs. Clara Hupfer and Mrs. Caroline Good of Plainfield, Iowa, and a number of grandchildren survive her.
Mrs. Wiethorn was a good Christian woman, and an unusual mother, always happy to have her sons visit her. She was a quiet, home-loving woman, and her sons will ever cherish her memory. She was a faithful member of the local Methodist church and always attended service until her age and failing health forced her to remain at home.
The sympathy of the community is extended the survivors in the loss of their mother, sister and grandmother.
