Clayton County Register, 22 July 1936.

GUTTENBERG: Henry Hagen, long-time resident of this community, passed away at the home of his son, Edward Hagen, in Jefferson township, at the age of 81 years. Mr. Hagen was born in Germany, later coming to America and settling in Clayton county, Iowa. He also resided at Dubuque for a number of years. He was married to Miss Lena Ball. For many years he was successfully engaged in farming. He is survived by his wife; four sons, Eldo and Arthur Hagen, of Jefferson township, and Alfred Hagen of near Garber; two daughters, Mrs. H. Fascher, of near Garnavillo, and Mrs. Kenneth Kickbush, Osterdock; several grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. The funeral was held Monday afternoon, with interment in the Ceres cemetery.
