Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Aug. 1912.
Frederick August Wacker was born Sept. 15th, 1874, in Cox Creek township, Clayton county, Iowa, where he died Friday afternoon, Aug. 16th, at the age of thirty-seven years, eleven months and one day. All his life was spent on the home farm, which for the last six years he called his own. About four years ago Fred, better known to all his friends by the nickname Pete, showed signs of ill health and since last fall his condition gave cause to fear the worst. He was tenderly cared for by his mother and sisters until death called him from home.
He leaves to mourn his death his aged mother, four brothers and five sisters, viz: Henry and Mrs. Joe Leonard, of Elkader; Christ, of Mederville; George, of Dubuque; Mrs. Marie Alden, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Mrs. Margareth Pugh, of Seattle, Wash.; and Elizabeth, Carrie and Frank, who are still at home.
Funeral services, which were largely attended, were attended, were held Sunday afternoon at the house and at Mederville cemetery, Rev. Franke officiating. A quartette of his church choir gave several appropriate selections. May his soul rest in peace !
