Elkader Register, Thur., 09 May 1912. Volga column.
Lucy Lusetta Grey was born in New York Dec. 07, 1839, and died April 29, 1912, being 72 years, four months and twenty-two days of age. At an early age she moved with her parents to Illinois, later coming to Iowa and settling in Fayette County, where she was married Nov. 01, 1857, to Mr. Richard Badger, who preceded her on Oct. 25, 1906. To this union were born thirteen children, nine of whom are left to mourn the loss of a good and loving mother. She is also survived by four brothers and many other relatives and a host of friends.
She has been a member of the M.E. church for many years, and although she has been unable to attend for several years on account of ill health, she has proved a faithful Christian. For the past few years her health has been very miserable and the last month she failed very rapidly. Medical aid and loving hands did all that could be done, but she passed peacefully away at 1:30, April 29, 1912, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. N. A. Beldon, of Volga, Iowa, where she has made her home for the past year. On May 1st a short service was held at the house, conducted by Rev. Bear. The remains were then taken to Maynard. Funeral services were there conducted by the Rev. at the M.E. church and the body was laid to rest in the Long Grove Cemetery.
