Elkader Register, Thur., 18 Jan. 1912. Elkport and Vicinity column.
Roy Samuel Noack.
The above named person was one who will be greatly missed by parents, sisters, brothers and a host of friends. He was born Aug. 20th, 1888, at Osterdock, Iowa. He was born the son of James and Anna (Kottke) Noack. He was a happy lad of robust health and always at the side of the father, helping him in his duties and planning to assist his mother and thus save her some steps in the many duties which fall upon the mother of a family. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, Harry, Clay, G___land and Howard, and by his little sisters, Viola and Carrie, besides many other relatives and friends. He was a member of the "Noack band". The past _ years he suffered almost constantly and death came to relieve him from his sufferings on Jan. 8th, 1912, when he had reached the age of 23 years, 4 months and 19 days, whence he has gone to meet with a sister and an infant brother, who preceded him to that happy land beyond the skies. On Wednesday the 10th inst., burial took place. The services were conducted by Rev. Hansel at the home of J. Noack, two and one-half miles south of Elkport. The words chosen by the clergyman must always be a comfort and a solace to the sorrowing ones. The songs "Sweetly resting" and Asleep in Jesus" were favorites of the deceased and were sung by Mrs. A. Hohmann, and the Misses Anna Bals and Anna Voss, Mrs. C. D. Beck and Mr. F. Dennis. "Nearer My God to Thee" was also sung. One thought must be the guiding Star to comfort the sorrowing ones, namely, that he was taken while still under his father's roof and shelter and under the care of a loving mother, sisters and brothers, ere the responsibilities of life came upon him. From that home he has gone, but he'll await your coming by and by.
We shall miss you son and brother
We shall miss you our dear boy,
But we'll hope to meet thee yonder,
So farewell ! Our darling Roy.The pallbearers were six relatives viz., Peter Noack, Garrison Noack, Wm. Kottke, August Kottke, Frederick Pl_chke and Wm. Groth. Burial took place in the Pollman Cemetery. May he rest in peace !
