DROWNED- About 4 o'clock on the morning of the 5th, John Gannon, of McGregor, was drowned in the Mississippi. In company with three others from McGregor, he had attended a dance at Prairie du Chien. Returning home in a skiff they stopped at one of the island saloons. The morning was quite foggy, and in getting into the boat it upset and Gannon was drowned, the others escaping by swimming.
